With around 2,000 volunteers engaged at peak, you and your colleagues can be assured of a meaningful voluteering experience at one of our 50+ Checking Centres around the country. Most of these Checking Centres require volunteer teams between October and November each year, depending on the size and location of the Centre.
Volunteering roles for individuals or small teams within these Checking Centres are typically threefold following a short induction briefing which volunteers must attend:
- Checking donated shoebox gifts for Customs purposes etc.
- Packing 9-10 sealed shoebox gifts into a larger outer carton (aka cartoning)
- Loading filled cartons on to a trailer/sea-container for delivery overseas
As well as helping Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal, many businesses large and small, find that volunteering can be a great team-building excercise with chats over tea/coffee at the Centre and some going out together for lunch afterwards, adding to the overall volunteering experience.
Where an employer offers Volunteer Matching Gifts for their employees who volunteer, Team Hope appreciates and accepts these matching gifts towards the general work of the charity, directly or through the following third-party platforms:
